Hi,

I'm having a problem where emails notices via Form Master can no longer be sent unless they come from my Web site's domain address. It occured after my ISP required us to use secure SMTP. If I set a form to "CC" the user a copy of the form they submit it returns the error "email account not found on this server".

Any suggestions or workarounds regarding this problem?

Thanks,

Will

There is not much you can do about going around the rules of an SMTP server.
Form Master 2008 supports using a "Reply To:" address when you have to use a FROM: or TO: address known to the SMTP Server so when the recipient hits reply it goes to that address but that is about all I can offer.

Can you tell me in Host > Settings are you using Basic authentication? If not that might clear up your problems.

Yes, it's set to Basic Authentication. Someone on the DNN site said there is a way to get around it, but he wouldn't share. A real jerk. :-)

If you already have Basic Auth setup and your SMTP server still requires one of the email addresses to be known, I would say that is too restrictive. What they are afraid of is being used as a Relay server. If basic auth is being used I don't see how they expect to be used to Relay email.

Talk to them and complain

Thanks for the great advice, guys! I talked to my ISP and they tweaked the secure SMTP and voila' it works fine now. Also the names in the admin e-mail and SMTP settings in the Host configuration settings must be the same in DNN, in case anyone else is reading this.
