Create form from database view?

I know that I can create a form from a database table but is it possible to do the same with a view? Other than using the Form Query Manager and mapping each field to a form field?

No the dropdown contains only tables. The assumtion is that the data will be stored in the table selected which of course cannot be done with a view.
